I. How to Make a Connection
Engaging with a someone new and presenting your strongest self involves two special skills. The first is listening.

When you have ambition, you should never look past the person you are with to others you might think are more important. You should exist fully in the moment with whomever you are engaged and give them your focus.
You know you’ve begun to be part of the conversation when questions are asked of you or people mention you without your being there.
Not everyone achieves this level, or when they do, are they necessarily pleased. Still, when you have become the subject of a conversation, it means, by definition, that now everyone has an opinion about what you’re doing.
To connect smartly, you have to widen your circle and establish contacts to position your relationship in a way where you can maintain it during the ups and downs of business interactions.
The role of the peer can be crucial, not only in philanthropy or in developing new businesses but in helping others with vision gain the access they need to get started.
If you are the “Social,” then you swim, so to speak, in circles where your friends and family have influence. Your relationships go deeper than business, and your network often expands because of social situations.
If you are the “Leverage,” it’s because people need and want you involved in something. Period.
The minute you think you deserve more, the more you will eventually fail because honestly you haven’t done enough to gain recognition if your fallback is that people should recognize you because of who you are.
If people do lead lives of quiet desperation, then for those who cannot sit idly by, goal setting is key. You have to find a way to blend your passion into your daily life.
